UNESCO representatives study objects of natural cultural complex of Bashkortostan in Burzyansky region

On June 10 in Burzyansky region a working conference on studying the natural cultural complex "Shulgan-Tash" with participation of representatives of the Russian commission for UNESCO and heads of the relevant ministries and departments of Bashkortostan.

The issue under discussion was recent agreements between the republican management and UNESCO about possibility to create in Bashkortostan a biospheric nature reserve «the Bashkir Urals» and inclusion into the preliminary list of the World cultural heritage of UNESCO of a historical monument "Shulgan-Tash" cave in the nomination «Cultural landscape».

According to the responsible secretary of the Commission Grigory Ordzhonikidze, within the limits of the planned actions and acceptance of the new status the reserve territory becomes a buffer zone and will be especially protected.

— For a short period of time an ideal scheme of the nature reserve was created, — Valery Neronov, the vice-president of the Russian committee of the UNESCO program «Human and biosphere» said. – It is obvious that this territory is unique. On example of Shulgan-Tash we should show how human should co-operate with environment. I will mark that in Russia there are 39 biospheric reserves, 8 from them are sites of the world natural heritage. Thereupon Bashkortostan can become a unique example and can be nominated, — the representative of UNESCO marked. Also he added that «the new status will allow to make, first of all, the reserve more attractive to tourists that has a great economic potential for the region as a whole».

The possibility of creation near to "Shulgan-Tash" reserve of scientific and tourist centre for carrying out of permanent works on studying and preservation of Kapova cave, including visit-centre and a museum is considered at the federal level.

It opens possibilities of development of the tourist centre «Murat Tugay» on which basis the historical archaeological reserve museum will operate.
