Rustem Khamitov: “We are short of really business relations with scientific community”

“The Ufa Scientific Center under the Russian Academy of Sciences is an important structure for us. You are the scientific elite of the Republic and in our activity we in many respects base on your achievements” – the President RB Rustem Khamitov said at the meetings with the scientists of the Ufa Scientific Center.

The head of the Republic has taken part in the general gathering of the Center on Tuesday, May 24. The scientists told the President RB about their researches in different spheres.

As the President RB underscored, “science is always important with generalization and analytics”.

“This is what is absent on the tables of our chiefs today. And this is evident drawback in our joint activity. We are short of really business relations because our Republic is standing on the crossroads today. It is quite clear that the format we were found in just one year ago doesn’t suit us today. We are remaining behind more and more. We are lagging behind in economic development, in production modernization etc. The average per capita income of our citizens is very low and doesn’t correspond to our potential. Financing of our science is low too. The summary figure on all your institutes is just 777 million rubles – it is not much. The level of wages is also miserable”.

Another hot problem, raised by the President was attraction of young specialists to science.

“Specialists are one of our key aims. We are loosing young people; they leave because now they have a choice. We can return them, only providing with good jobs, good wages and good conditions” – Rustem Khamitov said – “If we fail to include our scientific community into new modernization processes, the results will be zero. But if we are able to become the associates, to understand and help each other, we will definitely start moving forward”.
