Medieval Ufa will become a museum

The historical reserve-museum will be established on the site of the archeological dig of the ancient settlement Ufa-II and the President RB Rustem Khamitov has already signed the corresponding decree.

The museum is founded with the purpose to preserve and study the largest archeological monument of the V-XVI centuries AD – the settlement Ufa-II, the press-service of the Government RB reports.

The museum will be patronized by the Ministry of culture RB.

For the reference: the ancient settlement Ufa-II was discovered in 1953 by the well-known Ufa scientist of local lore Peter Isherikov and later investigated by Maksuda Sadykova, Vladimir Ovsyannikov and the academician Niyaz Majitov.

In the course of the excavations the following objects of monumental architecture have been discovered: the remains of the defensive installations, the deep and wide ditch, the traces of the rectangular and jurt-like habitations, the corduroy, copper and iron smelting furnaces and the jeweler’s. The scientists gathered a big collection of various objects of material culture there: various implements, ceramics, decorations and arms, including 19 silver coins of the XIII-XIV centuries.
