Zugura Rakhmatullina: “We’ve reached very good results in organization of native lingual education and don’t intend to pulls this slat down”

More than 40% of 1836 general education institutions and 832 subdivisions in Bashkortostan are the national schools. 73,3% of non –Russian pupils are either taught in their native languages or study these languages as a separate subject. Several native languages are studied at the schools with the mixed national staff in parallel, the deputy Prime-Minister of the Government RB, acting Minister of education RB Zugura Rakhmatullina reported at the last meeting of the Ministry’s Collegium.

Touching upon the question concerning the transition to a new generation of the school standards she has underscored that here one has to take the regional and ethnic-cultural aspects into account, revising the content of the text-books for native languages as well as the methods of their studying.

At the same time Zugura Rakhmatullina says with regret that not all parents understand the meaning of native languages and their educational potential.

“During the last school year we’ve already faced the refusals from study of the native languages” – she reported – “At the same time the appeals of the parents to the Ministry of education RB concerning the infringement of their rights in sphere of native lingual education become more and more frequent. The leadership of the country posed the problem to educate not just well-trained but spiritually developed and tolerant personalities before the pedagogical community. We’ve reached very good results in organization of native lingual education and don’t intend to pull this slat down”.
