A folk medicine center to appear in Ufa

Opening of the Republican folk medicine center – apitherapy – is planned in Ufa in the first quarter of 2011, the director of the Bashkir scientific-research center on bee-keeping and apitherapy Amir Ishemgulov reported on Wednesday at the meeting of the committee for agrarian issues, ecology and nature management of the State Council RB. The center, as he said, will start working in the Ufa micro-district of Sipailovo.

“The interest in this center is already displayed in Germany” – he said – “This country pays much attention to development of apitherapy and German colleagues would like to arrive in Bashkiria to become acquainted with our experience in this sphere after the center is opened”.

Amir Ishemgulov also called the main problems the bee-keeping faced in Bashkiria in his opinion. The development of this branch is hampered first of all by too small number of the pedigree bee-gardens and by the absence of the centralized system for purchases of honey from local population. One more serious problem is the absence of a plant for manufacturing of the bee-keeping products and such plant is absent not just in Bashkiria but in Russia in a whole. The import of bees from other regions and countries, the absence of the efficient system for registration of bee families and volumes of bee-keeping production in the private sector also adversely affect the development of Bashkir national bee-keeping.
