Neftekamsk and Kumertau are the winners in online movement “Russia without cruelty to children”

Solemn awarding ceremony for the winners of the contest “The city – without cruelty to children” has taken place on Thursday, December 23, in the Russian Ministry of health protection and social development. The representatives of the cities – the winners of the contest – received diplomas and statuettes from the Minister of health and social development RF Tatiana Golikova, the ombudsman for children’s rights under the President RF Paul Astakhov and the chairman of the Fund for support of the children, found in extreme situations Marina Gordeeva.
The State Duma deputy Natalie Karpovitch, a member of the Russian Public Chamber Olga Kostina and the advisor of the deputy chairman of the Federation Council Michael Kolkov greeted the winners. 182 cities, struggling for the rank “The city without cruelty to children” were making social advertising and holding mass actions for children and their parents, training specialists of the children’s institutions and building up the system of measures for the problematic families and for prevention of cruelty with respect to children. The results of the contest were summed up at the end of November 2010.
The following cities were announced the winners:
In the 1st category of Russian cities (administrative centers) – Kemerovo – the first place, Tambov-the second and Murmansk – the third;
In the 2nd category (the cities with the population 100 thousand people and more) – Engels (Saratov region) – the first place, Tobolsk (Tyumen region) – the second and Naberezhnye Chelny (Tatarstan) – the third;
In the 3rd category (the cities with the population less than 100 thousand people) – the town of Glazov (Udmurtia) – the first place, Sukhoy Log (Sverdlovsk region) – the second and Vyborg (Leningrad region) – the third.
The cities were also taking part in the online movement “Russia – without cruelty to children” on the portal www.ya-roditel.ru. The city of Derbent (Dagestan) has become the absolute winner. Two towns RB were marked in the course of today’s ceremony as the winners of the online movement in their categories of the cities: the town of Neftekamsk - in the 2nd category (100 thousand people and more) and the town of Kumertau – in the 3rd category (less than 100 thousand people).
