International conference, devoted to the 100th anniversary of the epos “URAL-BATYR” record, is held in Ufa

The international scientific-practical conference “URAL-BATYR” and spiritual heritage of the world nations”, devoted to the 100th anniversary of the epos’ record, started working in Ufa today. It is organized by the Institute of history, language and literature RB, the Ministry of culture RB, the Academy of Sciences RB and the Committee RB on UNESCO Affairs.

The epos “URAL-BATYR” is considered one of the most ancient archaic legends of the Bashkir nation, standing in one line with such masterpieces of the epic poetry as Finnish “Kalevala”, German “Song about Niebelungs”, Kirghiz “Manas” and others.

The forum gathered scientists from Ufa, Sterlitamac, Sibay, Utchaly, Kazan, Nabereznye Chelny and also from Abkhazia and Germany.

The plenary session is held in the first half of the day and the following sections will start working after lunch: “Folklore: mythology, beliefs, demonology”, “Lingual folkloristic and ethnic linguistics”, “Literature and folklore: Folklore in historical-cultural heritage”, “Ethnic musicology: modern state of amateur and folk arts” and two symposiums: “Riot folklore – narrators” (devoted to the jubilee of the doctor of philology, the knight of Salavat Ulaev Order Rosalia Sultangareeva) and “The epos “URAL-BATYR” as a valuable monument of the Bashkir epic heritage”.
