Bashkir ecological center: the problem of “HIMPROM” isn’t yet solved

The following message can be discovered on numerous realty internet sites: “The production-storage building at “HIMPROM” (Ufa) is in sale, the price is 17000000 rubles”. The message can be found on the portal www.estbase.ru and available for anyone. It seems there is nothing strange in such message, unless one knows that this zone of now closed enterprise still remains the zone of the ecological dioxin catastrophe.

In 2006 the group of experts has sent the warning message to the former Prime-Minister RB:

“JSC “HIMPROM” still remains the main polluter in the city of Ufa and according to the data of the analyses, made by the Bashkir ecological center and other research institutes a high content of dioxins is discovered in the plaster of its workshops. The analyses of the soil around the production facilities and storage buildings show the content of dioxins there is the same as in the plaster. The soil, polluted with dioxins, is the polluter of the Ufa’s territory, adjacent to the enterprise. In particular, high contents of dioxins are discovered along the highway to the town of Birsk to the point of the town of Blagoveshensk. The content of dioxins in the underground waters, taken from the 10-meter depth on the territory of JSC “HIMPROM” exceeds the maximum allowable concentrations 100 times.

The unauthorized refuse tip is found near the territory of JSC “HIMPROM” and the content of dioxins in its soil exceeds the norms dozens and hundreds thousand times”.

Four years have passed since the moment of writing this message, a fragment of which is sited here. The news agency “Bashinform” addressed itself to the Bashkir ecological center with the request to refresh this information. This center has passed the long-term procedure of the international certification for the right to analyze dioxins. There are only three or four such organizations in Russia. The Center reports the dangerous waste, containing the super-toxicants, is still found in the sludge collectors of “HIMPROM” and the unauthorized refuse tip near the former plant is also found in the same state as four years ago.
