Water in Ufa is much clearer than air

The water in Ufa is much clearer than the air, the head of the Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights Dept in RB Nasima Kuchimova reported today.

“The highest risk for population’s health in Ufa is concerned with the state of atmospheric air” - she said – “And it is so in spite of lowering of the annual gross atmospheric emissions from both stationary and movable sources”.

According to her the excess of maximally allowable concentration of 15 harmful substances was observed in the air of Ufa at 14 observation stations in 2009. For the last several years the increase of the gross atmospheric emissions is regularly registered in Ufa.

“According to the 9-month results in 2010 the excess of the maximally allowable concentration with such contaminants as carbon monoxide, xylene, formaldehyde and phenol in atmosphere made up from 1,1 to five times”-she reported.

The situation with Ufa’s water is much better than with the air. 194 thousand sample waters for sanitary-chemical indices have been tested in 2009 and no deviations from the standards have been revealed.
