Social Card of Bashkortostan is the best Russian healthcare IT project

Social Card of Bashkortostan is acknowledged as the best project on transfer of state healthcare services into the electronic format in Russia. That was the decision of the commission of The Top 10 IT-Projects for Government Sector Contest organized by KomNews Publishing Group with the assistance of the RF Ministry of Communications and Mass Communications.

"The preference was given not to the projects that facilitate the movement of papers between computers and tables of state officials, but to those that make the lives of ordinary people easier, save from standing in long queues," Igor Schegolev, the RF Minister for Communications and Mass Communications, said at the awarding ceremony in Moscow.

The contenders numbered 60 in all. During two months, the jury assessed the applications of IT-companies from all over Russia: from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kirov, Yekaterinburg, Perm, Ulyanovsk and other cities. Ten categories were announced initially, but the jury decided on the best projects only in eight of them.

The Social Card of Bashkortostan has already been recognized on the international level as well. Thus, it was awarded the prize at the 2009 OSCARDS Contest of innovative bank products in Paris.

The Social Card of Bashkortostan is issued by Uralsib Bank. Citizens can get these cards for free. All the issue and usage costs are compensated by participants of the project within the framework of public private partnership. This mechanism made it possible to minimize budget expenditures on introduction of the high-technology innovation.
