Muharram Bikbov: Developments of Bashkir ophthalmologists are popular all over the world

Today Bashkir ophthalmologists enjoy high authority all over the world. This credit goes to Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases of the RB Academy of Sciences. Nowadays it is a major multisectoral institution, which handles fundamental and applied ophthalmological problems, deals with complex rehabilitation of patients with amblyopia in the republic and in Russia.

It should me mentioned that all types of ophthalmological assistance are rendered for residents of Bashkortostan for free from the regional budget resources. Such practice is not applied in any other region of Russia.

"Developments of our specialists are popular all over the world. Our ophthalmologists are famous, their opinion is taken into consideration, they are invited to different research and practice conferences. We also initiate and organize various conferences on ophthalmological problems," Muharram Bikbov, the director of Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases, says. "Such events are primarily aimed at exchange of experience that is very important in modern medicine."

Another international research and practice conference on ophthalmology will take place in Ufa on April 23-24, Muharram Muhtaramovich told the journalists at the press conference held in Bashinform News Agency.

"We named it 'East-West'," he said.

According to the director of the Institute of Eye Diseases, Bashkortostan serves as a link between two continents not only in geographical, but in a more general sense. This time Ufa will gather first-class ophthalmologists of the East and the West. Guests from Germany, Italy, Great Britain, India, Kazakhstan, and also leading eyecare professionals of Russia are invited to the conference. They number 500 people in all.

The program of the coming forum, which is to take place in the Congress-Hall, is rather extensive. It consists of practical and theoretical parts.

Today the invited Indian professors will demonstrate their modern achievements in ophthalmology. The operation will be broadcasted live in the Internet.

The collection of treatises including the latest achievements of the world's best ophthalmologists was published within the preparation for the international conference. Each participant of the forum will get this publication.
