“Immunopreparat” will produce 115 thousand doses of antibody against tick encephalitis

The Ufa’s company “IMMUNOPREPARAT” will produce 115 doses of antibody against tick encephalitis in 2010. The antibody is manufactured in the capital of Bashkortostan since 1991. In 2009 the plant has manufactured more than 106 thousand doses.

The preparation represents the concentrated solution of the purified fraction of antibodies, prepared on the base of the plasma of the donors, vaccinated against this infection. It contains the ready-made antibodies, with the help of which the human organism struggles with the virus. This preparation is used for emergency prophylactics and treatment of tick encephalitis among adults and kids.

According to information of the Federal Agency for health and consumer rights more than 500 thousand people in 69 Russian regions have suffered from the tick bites, including 110 thousand children, in 2009.

Tick encephalitis is the virus, natural-nidal disease, typical for certain territories. The ticks, widely spread in the forests in nearly all European countries, in the European part of Russia and in Siberia, are the carriers of this disease. This dangerous infection affects animals too – rodents, cattle, apes and some birds. Workers of forestries, geologists, topographers, hunters and tourists and lately gardeners are subjected to the highest risk of infection.
