The First TV-Channel will show the film by Leonid Parfenov “The Backbone of Russia”

The first demonstration of the 4-series TV film by Leonid Parfenov “The Backbone of Russia” will take place on the First TV-Channel in March. The film, telling about nature, history and culture of Ural, is shot with the elements of “road-movie” and extreme kinds of tourism. Sergey Nurmamed, Ivan Skvortsov and Andre Lazarev are the film’s producers, Alexei Ivanov is the scriptwriter and Leonid Parfenov, Alexei Ivanov and Julia Zaitseva are the presenters.
The writer Alexei Ivanov has become the inspirer of the project. He had the intention to make it as a TV-film and an illustrated book about Ural. The project started in 2007 after the pilot trailer of the movie had been shot. Leonid Parfenov and his studio “NAMEDNI” (“recently”) joined the project same year. 8 TV-expeditions have been organized in 2008 and the shooting crew has traveled along Ural about 20 thousand kilometers.
The materials of these trips were laid to the base of Alexei Ivanov’s book “The Backbone of Russia”. The author has written it in the new genre of identity – “the identification of the region”. The edition includes about 600 photos, 100 short stories and the guide-book on Ural. The book will be introduced to wide public at the fair “The Books of Russia”, which is to be held in Moscow in March 2010.
