Sterlitamak gymnasium N1 is included into the encyclopaedia "Best people of Russia" 2010, Rif Tazhiev, the principal of the gymnasium, the RB and RF honoured teacher, Soros Foundation prize-holder, the winner of the RF best teacher's contest told Bashinform News Agency.

"It was founded in 1983 as a school with advanced study of English," Rif Taziev told. "In 1991 the educational institution acquired the status of gymnasium and became the third gymnasium in the republic and the first in the city. There are 1210 pupils in it now."

Besides, the gymnasium has 20-year experience of organization of teachers' training and multisectoral training introduced prior to reorganization into gymnasium.

The gymnasium is also famous for its teachers' staff, which includes 11 Doctors of Philosophy, 11 teachers working on their theses, 18 RF and RB high achievers of education, the RF and RB honoured teachers. In total, teachers of the highest and the first category of qualification make 75% of the gymnasium's pedagogic staff. Workers of the gymnasium take an active part in research and practice conferences. More than 40 articles of teachers of gymnasium N1 have been published over the last two years.

The gymnasium is well-known not only in the city but in the republic as well. The number of the winners of different school children's competitions and sports contests of all levels has grown from 42 in 1998 to 282 in 2008-2009. Owing to these achievements, the gymnasium was acknowledged as the winner of Innovation in Education Professional Contest held last year on the 12 Russian Educational Forum in Moscow and was awarded with the diploma and the badge of honour.

It needs to mention that new technologies aimed at development of intellectual, creative and physical abilities of pupils are constantly introduced to the educational process.

Gymnasium N1 has its own hymn, Lastochka newspaper, "Lik" cable TV studio. In 2008, gymnasium radio "Gymnasium FM+" started its work. The gymnasium has also its web-site titled "We are the first!".
