Immunization against highly pathogenic influenza started in Bashkortostan.

According to the Directorate of the Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights for RB, the first consignment of A/H1N1/sw flu vaccine arrived early in December. According to Nasima Kuchimova, the deputy head of the Agency, top priority in vaccination will be given to healthcare workers, social and educational workers, students of the Bashkir State Medical University.

"As of December 13 of 2009, 16,314 people are already inoculated," Nasima Kuchimova said.

The next delivery of the highly pathogenic flu vaccine is expected to arrive in the region in late December or early January.

Nasima Kuchumova also said that the total number of people inoculated in the course of vaccination against seasonal flu comes to 1,158,644. It is 28.6% of the republican population.
