The ceremony of Elena Mukhina First National Prize awarding took place at Paralympic Center in Moscow.

The distinguished Russian and Bashkir composer Salavat Nizametdionov has been awarded with "The Winning Note" music Prize. The singer Diana Gurtskaya presented this award to our composer. She said that Salavat Nizametdinov received the award for his firm will to win and high creative achievements.

The National Prize named after the legendary Soviet gymnast Elena Mukhina was instituted on the initiative of Moscow branch of the International Paralympic Committee. Elena Mukhina is a world-famous sportswoman, the all-round World champion, the holder of the World Cup for gymnastics.

Unfortunately, she was famous not only for her sports victories. No one in the world was indifferent to her tragic story: the spinal trauma left her paralysed for life and made her an invalid at the height of her fame. However, the girl did not surrender. Being confined to bed for 27 years, she defended the dissertation, studied psychology and helped to those who got into trouble. It is no coincidence that Elena was one of the first Russians to be awarded with the Olympic Order for Courage. Her personal courage, will, fortitude, everyday heroism in overcoming her disease must serve as an example for many people living both in Russia and abroad and finding themselves in a tough situation.

The decision to institute the Prize was fully approved by the International Paralympic Committee.

The President of the International Paralympic Committee Sir Philip Craven gave his consent to become a member of the Council of Trustees of the Prize and Elena Mukhina Fund, which is the evidence of the attention paid by the core international organization to this event.

According to the organizers' concept, the Prize bears rather practical than presentational meaning. Disabled people must have real examples of successful people, and means and methods of reaching success by invalids must be accessible and need to be spread around.
