"The Bashkir State University takes a reputable place among higher education institutions of the Russian Federation," Mukhamet Harrasov, the BSU chancellor, said at the press conference held in Bashinform News Agency. "It is recognizable abroad. Our students work in different corners of the world. For example, a postgraduate of the BSU Vladimir Drinfel working in the USA now is given the most honorary mathematical award - Fields Medal, which is even called the Nobel Prize for mathematicians."
Besides, the BSU has educated many talented sportsmen, such as Renart Suleimanov, Niyaz Faizullin, Maxim Chudov, Olga Vilukhina, who brought fame both to our republic and to the whole country.
The BSU will celebrate its 100th anniversary this year.
"The university has been engaged in profound archival research over the past ten years," Mukhamet Harrasov said. "The unique materials that we managed to find in Moscow and St. Petersburg archives indicate that Ufa Teacher's Institute was the founder of the Bashkir State University."
The University is well prepared to the celebration of its centenary. This preparation included the following: the purchase of scientific equipment, commissioning of educational and laboratory complex in Sibay, reconstruction of the Law Institute, commissioning of the educational building in Chernikovka district and a chemical storeroom.
As for the celebrations themselves, they will take place on December 3-4. The main venues will be the Bashkir State University and the Congress Hall. The program will include the international research and practice conference devoted to the role of classical universities in formation of innovative environment of regions, the session of the Presidium of the education and methodology association of classical universities, the meeting of Vladimir Sadovnichy, the chancellor of Lomonosov Moscow State University, with students and lecturers of the BSU, a solemn meeting devoted to the 100th anniversary of the BSU.
Representatives of the RF Ministry of Education and Science, the Federal Education Agency, chancellors and vice-chancellors of Russian and foreign universities will be present among guests of honour.
"We would like these celebrations to become an additional incentive for the further improvement of educational and scientific processes," Muchamet Kharrasov emphasized.
