Ufa submitted application for holding summer biathlon championship in 2013

The meeting of the International Biathlonist Union executive committee (IBU) has taken place in Salzburg, Austria. The capital of Bashkortostan Ufa submitted the official application for holding the summer biathlon championship in 2013.

The world summer biathlon championship can take place in the capital of Mordvinia Saransk already in 2010, as the first Vice-President of IBU, Vice-President of Russian Biathlonist Union and the fourfold Olympic champion Alexander Tikhonov reported to the sport news-agency “The Whole Sport”.

“Many countries and cities would like to hold international summer biathlon tournaments already now. For example, at present time I am working over the idea to hold the series of such summer biathlon tournaments in Arab Emirates and it s good that our country doesn’t stay aside. Now I may officially say that the capital of Bashkortostan Ufa submitted the application for holding the summer biathlon championship-2013. It is too early to start talking about its chances but it is clear these chances are far from low” – M-r Tikhonov said.
