Influenza and ARVI epidemic has begun in Ufa

Influenza and ARVI (acute respiratory viral infection) epidemic has begun in Ufa. 6898 people fell ill over the period from October 26 to November 1, 54% of them are children up to 14 years of age.

Influenza and ARVI morbidity rate is 23% above epidemic threshold. The plan of measures for the period of unfavourable epidemic situation is coming into action since November 3.

To prevent the epidemic rise of ARVI and influenza morbidity rate autumn holidays has started a week earlier in 22 schools of the republic. Studies are suspended in 4 higher educational institutions and specialized secondary schools.

Specialists of the Directorate of the Russian Agency for Heath and Consumer Rights for RB consider that it is hard to predict further development of the epidemic - this year the rise of morbidity rate has started unusually early in Bashkortostan and in Russia as a whole.

Meanwhile, influenza vaccination campaign is going on in the republic. 800 000 doses of influenza vaccine are delivered within the national project "Health" for immunization of "risk groups" of the population. At present 747 thousand people are inoculated from the federal budget resources that makes 93% of the plan.

Currently 4 laboratory-confirmed cases of pandemic influenza are registered in Bashkortostan. All the sick people arrived from abroad. Lethal outcomes of pandemic influenza are not registered.
