Way to pandemic influenza is blocked

At present the total number of cases of influenza A/H1N1 in the world amounts to 385 964, 4652 of them are with lethal outcome. The deputy head of the Directorate of Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights for RB Nasima Kuchimova reported this at the press conference in the news-agency "Bashinform".

"From the moment of registration of this disease in the world, the monitoring of introduced cases and prevention of the infection spread are carried out in Bashkortostan" - she said.

To avoid introduction of the infection to our republic specialists of the medical and quarantine post (MQP) of the Directorate of Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights for RB located in JSC International Airport "Ufa" carry out examination of all airplanes and passenger traffic arriving from abroad using noncontact thermometer for the temperature control of passengers and crewmen.

In 2010, the checkpoint on the State Border of RF is going to be equipped with stationary thermal imager.

From April 26 to the present moment, specialists of MQP have examined 749 airplanes, more than 5 510 crewmembers and about 100 840 passengers who came from European and Asian countries. For this period, they have registered 76 cases of the acute respiratory infection, 51 people have been hospitalized. All the patients have undergone antiviral treatment in hospitals or at home. Two cases of influenza A/H1N1 were confirmed.

Kuchimova also reported that the work on registration and medical observation over organized groups of teenagers and children having returned from abroad is also organized.

Daily monitoring of attendance in children's preschool and educational institutions is carried out. In case of absence of 20% of children, restrictive measures will be taken in these institutions.

Problems of prevention of highly pathogenic influenza are included into the training programmes of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs carrying out tour operator and travel agency activities.
