New university admission regulations will be approved by the end of October

Educational institutions will be able to set a pass mark not only for major subjects but for minors as well. That is what the Head of the federal department Andrey Fursenko reported at Ministry of Education and Science board.
According to the official site of Ministry of Education and Science, new admission regulations will be approved by the end of September. However, the majority of questions have been already decided.
Thus, matriculation will go in two stages, instead of three, like it was last summer - fr om July 30 till August 5 and from August 5 till August 10. It needs to mention that higher educational institutions retain the right to announce an additional intake of students for vacant places by September 1.
The only disputable issue is a probable restriction on the number of universities wh ere a school-leaver may simultaneously submit an application. The final decision on this question will be taken after the approval of chancellors' community.
We remind, that this year 29 990 people took the Universal State Examination, 585 of them failed in it. 50 pupils got 100 points in the exam.
