International expedition "Following Silk Road" crossed the border of Bashkortostan

International expedition "Following Silk Road" arrived in Bashkortostan. According to chief searching authority of tourism and touristic industry department of Ministry for youth policy, sports and tourism RB Ramil Rafikov, travellers crossed the border of our republic at 10 AM. Representatives of Ministry for youth policy, sports and tourism RB, authorities of Sibai and creative teams of the city met them.

- Here travellers will visit the local history museum and the world-famous open cast, - Ramil Rafikov said. - On the following day they will continue their way across Baymaksky region, where they are going to buy new horses for the further trip.

In toto, the route goes across Mongolia and Russia and will end on October 31 in the capital of Kalmykia - Elista.

The total length of the route is 6392 km. The travel time is 172 days. In Russia, the rout lies across the republic of Altai, Altai Territory, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tumen, Kurgan, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Samara, Saratov, Volgograd, Astrakhan regions, the republics of Bashkortostan and Kalmykia.

Ramil Rafikov says that the procession consists of horses and several vehicles of different makes. There are 15 people in the expedition's team. Unfortunately, their leader Fedor Konyukhov is going to join them only in Saratov or Volgograd due to his illness.

It needs to mention that there was no such expedition for hundreds of years. In fact, it is going to be a detailed restoration of the culture of caravan trips of Silk Road epoch.

The expedition will leave Bashkortostan for Orenburg region in the morning of September 15.
