Bashkortostan descended 32 points in rating of ecological colliding

For the first sic months 2009 Bashkortostan has descended 32 points at once in the rating of Russian regions by the number of mass-media messages about ecological conflicts and that proves real improvement of ecological situation in our Republic. This data was obtained in the course of the monitoring of regional ecological news, carried out by the Independent Ecological Rating Agency (NERA).

As NERA reports, the reduction of the messages about ecological conflicts is typical for the country in a whole. For the first six months 2009 4572 messages about ecological problems have been registered in the press – this is 5% less than for the same period of time in 2008. This reduction is in many respects explained by the fact that many industrial enterprises, which threatened the environment before, stand idle in the conditions of the economic crisis now.

At present time Bashkortostan stands on the 51st place among Russian regions by the number of the messages about existing ecological problems. For six months 2009 Bashkortostan has descended 32 points at once in this list. Only Republic of Adygei (35 positions down), Saint-Petersburg (31 positions down) and Voronezh region (29 positions) have managed to achieve so high results.

At the same time abrupt increase of the number of ecological messages is observed in Tatarstan (28 positions up), in Kurgan region (27 positions), Udmurt Republic (plus 29 positions) and in Khabarovsk region (plus 21 positions).

The Top 3 of “leaders” is occupied by Chelyabinsk region, Irkutsk region and Moscow. Mordvinia, Kabardino-Balkaria and Bryansk region stand in the very bottom of the rating list.
