Bashkortostan to create registry of hazardous plants

The republic plans to develop its own list of dangerous invasive plant species. The corresponding changes will be introduced to the Environmental Code and the law on specially protected natural areas of Bashkortostan.

As Speaker of the State Assembly — Kurultai of Bashkortostan — Konstantin Tolkachev reported, the initiative will obligate all landowners to identify and eliminate plants listed in this registry. A special procedure will apply to specially protected natural areas and forests.

The draft law is expected to be considered at the first plenary session of the regional parliament's spring session in January.
