Radiy Khabirov met with new head of Bashkortostan metropolitanate, Filaret

Bishop Filaret of Barysh and Inza was appointed the new head of the Ufa Diocese and the Bashkortostan metropolitanate by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on October 30.

Bashkortostan Head Radiy Khabirov congratulated Bishop Filaret on his election as head of the Bashkortostan metropolitanate of the Russian Orthodox Church. He announced this on his social media.

"I spoke about our large, multinational republic, about the work being done in the region to restore and build churches, and we discussed other issues. For centuries, different peoples of different religions have lived in peace and harmony in Bashkortostan. Friendship and mutual respect for languages, cultures, and faiths are our greatest treasure. And our common goal is to preserve and enhance it," wrote Radiy Khabirov. At a meeting with the bishop at the House of the Republic, Radiy Khabirov noted that numerous religious buildings are being built in the region with the support of philanthropists. Construction of the Ar-Rahim Mosque and the Resurrection Cathedral has resumed in Ufa.

Bishop Filaret of Ufa and Bashkortostan expressed gratitude to the regional leadership for their significant attention to preserving interfaith peace and supporting traditional religions.
