Vladimir Putin supports idea to declare 2026 as people’s unity year
Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a Wednesday meeting of the Council on Interethnic Relations, responded affirmatively to the initiative of Vitaly Kuznetsov, Ataman of the All-Russian Cossack Society.
"The country celebrated National Unity Day—this is a very important holiday for every citizen. The future prosperity of our Russia depends on how united we are, on our understanding of the importance of peace and harmony among peoples. Vladimir Vladimirovich, I ask you to support this proposal and consider declaring 2026 the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. I am confident that our entire country will support you in this," TASS quoted the Ataman as saying.
The President instructed Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova to draft the relevant resolutions.
