Deputies supported amendments to Constitution of Bashkortostan

Amendments will be made to the Constitution of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Today, May 29, at a plenary session, deputies of the State Assembly - Kurultai of the Republic of Bashkortostan supported the draft law "On Amendments and Supplements to the Constitution of the Republic of Bashkortostan" in its first reading, according to the press service of the regional parliament.

According to Konstantin Tolkachev, Chairman of the State Assembly of the Republic of Bashkortostan, amendments are necessary to align the provisions of the Basic Law of the Republic with the norms of the federal law "On the General Principles of Organizing Public Authority in the Subjects of Russia".

In particular, the draft law proposes to enshrine the structure of the State Assembly - Kurultai of the Republic of Bashkortostan at the constitutional level. The powers of the legislative body are intended to be expanded by monitoring compliance with the laws of the Republic, resolving issues of confidence or no confidence in the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic and his deputies, as well as hearing information on the activities of local governments.

The Head of Bashkiria is granted the right to issue a warning or reprimand to the head of the municipality or the head of the local administration, to dismiss them from office, and also to apply to the representative body of the city with an initiative to remove the head of the municipality in the cases and the manner stipulated by federal legislation.

To increase civic activity among young people, foster a legal and political culture, and involve them in parliamentary life, it is proposed to grant the Youth Public Chamber under the State Assembly of the Republic of Bashkiria the right to legislative initiative on issues within its jurisdiction.

The draft also provides for the updating of other individual provisions of the Constitution of the Republic, taking into account the norms of the above-mentioned federal law.
