State Duma has increased fines for violating information security to 100000 rubles

On May 13, the State Duma adopted amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, increasing liability for violating information security rules. Fines will be increased to 50 thousand rubles for officials and 100 thousand for legal entities. Currently, the maximum fine does not exceed 15 thousand rubles.

Fines for violating requirements for protecting information constituting a state secret (if the violation does not contain elements of a criminal offense) and for using uncertified programs will increase to 100,000 rubles.

Violating information security rules may allow unauthorized persons, including fraudsters, to gain access to data (networks, devices).
