The Bashkortostan delegation, led by the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Andrey Nazarov, took part in the inauguration ceremony of the elected President of the Republic of Abkhazia Badra Gunba. In total, about 650 people arrived for the inauguration ceremony, including the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Sergey Kiriyenko, the delegation of the State Duma of Russia, and representatives of Russian regions and foreign states.
As the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Bashkortostan noted, the two republics are linked by long-term cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. Bilateral cooperation is strengthening within the framework of Russian-Abkhaz relations, supported at the federal level.
"The history of relations between Bashkortostan and Abkhazia goes back decades. We can say that traditionally, the Bashkirs and Abkhazians were friends and supported each other. We are currently preparing a roadmap that will include many areas, and we will add them as new proposals and ideas arise,” Andrey Nazarov noted.
One of the areas for the development of bilateral cooperation is tourism. Today, there are prospects for expanding the Bashkir Longevity. Tourism project in the direction of Abkhazia. It gives senior citizens from the Russian region the opportunity to go on a free tourist trip once a year. As part of this project, a group of pensioners from Bashkortostan visited Abkhazia in 2023 and received positive feedback. In addition, a project to build a sanatorium where children from Bashkortostan will rest is underway. The health resort will be located in the Gulrypsh district of Abkhazia.
Work is also ongoing to organize direct flights to Sukhum from the Ufa International Airport. The first flights are expected to begin in the summer of 2025. Andrey Nazarov, on behalf of the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, wished Badra Gunba, who took office as head of state, success in his work for the benefit of his people, strengthening the friendship between Bashkortostan and Abkhazia, and developing joint projects.
