Social Fund can establish pension supplements in regions

Vladimir Putin has authorized the Social Fund of Russia to establish and pay pension supplements in the regions. The law "On state social assistance " has been amended accordingly. The document has been published on the legal information portal.

Currently, the Social Fund provides federal supplements if the subsistence minimum in the region is lower than the national minimum. If higher, local social protection agencies establish regional supplements with co-financing from the federal budget.

The changes will come into force on January 1, 2026.
