Crime rate in Bashkortostan is lowest in Russia

On February 20, the Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, participated in the 19th session of the State Assembly—Kurultai of the Republic of the seventh convocation. One of the main issues on the agenda was a report on the state of law and order in the region and the main results of the Ministry of Internal Affairs's activities in the republic for 2024, which the Minister of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant General of Police Alexander Pryadko, presented for Bashkortostan.

The head of the department noted that the crime rate in the region remains one of the lowest among the subjects of the Volga Federal District and in Russia as a whole. According to the results 2024, overall criminal activity decreased by 1.7%. The number of murders decreased by 34%, cases of causing serious bodily harm by 14%, robberies by 16%, robberies by 19%, and thefts of all forms of property by 13%. The number of street, repeat, and domestic crimes, including those committed while intoxicated, has decreased. Police officers have solved over 20 thousand criminal acts, including 5 thousand severe ones and 900 crimes from previous years.

According to Alexander Pryadko, about 17 thousand residents of Bashkortostan transferred 4 billion rubles to cyber fraudsters last year alone. The internal affairs agencies are strengthening their interaction with financial institutions and mobile operators. The regional Ministry of Internal Affairs has created a department to combat cybercrime. Much attention is paid to prevention—daily meetings are held with residents, state and educational institution staff, enterprises, and republican organizations. Police officers at ATM locations saved residents from taking ill-considered steps 112 times.
