First meeting of Healthcare Development Council was held in Ufa

Tatyana Aksyutina

Radiy Khabirov held the first meeting of the Healthcare Development Council under the Head of Bashkortostan.

The day before, Radiy Khabirov signed a decree establishing the Council. The Council includes chief physicians of the region's leading clinics, heads of district and city administrations, heads of territorial bodies of federal supervisory agencies, representatives of scientific organizations, public associations, and non-profit structures. Its purpose is to discuss current issues of healthcare development and develop specific solutions.

Opening the meeting, the Head of Bashkortostan noted that the most significant achievements in this area in recent years had been the increase in life expectancy in the republic to 73.17 years, a decrease in infant mortality, and mortality from major causes.

The head of the republic emphasized that much is being done in the region to modernize primary care and develop medicine in rural areas. In 2024 alone, more than 4,000 units of medical equipment, 132 prefabricated modular structures, 109 FAPs, 19 medical outpatient clinics, and four general practitioner offices were installed. More than 200 ambulances were purchased.

Bashkortostan Minister of Health Airat Rakhmatullin summed up the work of medical institutions in 2024 and outlined plans for the coming period.

Airat Rakhmatullin reported that the ministry defended a sizeable strategic project in mid-November—a territorial planning scheme for the republic's healthcare system for the next three years. This systemic document determines the placement of facilities and a set of measures for the sustainable development of healthcare, considering the population's needs, transport accessibility, and the introduction of new technologies.

Deputy Minister of Health of Bashkortostan Elena Galimulina discussed strengthening medical institutions' material and technical base. Thus, the region has built six polyclinics, eight capital feldsher-obstetric stations, two medical outpatient clinics, and one hospital over the past three years.

The Republican Cardiology Center's chief physician, Irina Nikolaeva, discussed improving methods for diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases. As a result, the region has seen a steady decrease in mortality from this group of diseases.

At the end of the meeting, the head of the region thanked the participants for the constructive dialogue and presented the republic's state awards.

“In the future, we will hold such meetings quarterly to make decisions on the most important issues of developing our healthcare,” Radiy Khabirov said.
