Bashkiria hit top 10 Russian regions in terms of solid municipal waste management efficiency

Moscow summarized the results of the All-Russian competition "Green Award." The Russian Ecological Operator is holding an ecology competition among the country's regions for the fourth time.

"It is delightful that our republic has again entered the top 10 regions of Russia in terms of the efficiency of solid municipal waste management, taking eighth place in the green rating," - shared on his pages in social networks the acting Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Niyaz Fazylov.

According to him, each region was assessed by the development of infrastructure, coverage of separate waste collection, dynamics of processing and disposal indicators, uninterrupted provision of services for the management of solid municipal waste, and educational and explanatory work among the population.

The award was presented by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, Alexander Kozlov.

“Let me remind you that five years ago, we created a modern waste management industry in the region from scratch: we created waste accumulation sites (94% of the need) equipped with containers (81%), including for separate accumulation (62%), updated the fleet of garbage trucks, provided full coverage of the population with the garbage removal service and photo and video recording of its removal to solid municipal waste landfills. We were the first in the country to introduce a centralized medical waste disinfection system. We began work on the transition to a closed-loop economy and much more. All this suggests that favorable conditions have been created in the republic for the sustainable development of an integrated MSW management system. I thank the head of the PPC REO, Denis Petrovich Butsaev, for his high assessment of our work, which we will certainly continue,” said Niyaz Fazylov.
