

On December 9, the President of Russia signed a decree establishing the Council under the President of the Russian Federation to implement state demographic and family policy. The decree was published on the official legal information portal.
The Council was created to prepare proposals for the President of the Russian Federation on improving demographic and family state policy and to monitor the implementation of action plans carried out within the framework of the Decade of Childhood.
Valentina Matviyenko was appointed chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
The Chairperson of the Council was instructed to submit a draft regulation on the Council and proposals for candidates for inclusion in the Council for approval by the President of the Russian Federation within one month.
The same decree abolished the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for implementing state policy in family and child protection.
