State Duma deputies adopted a bill on the first reading at a plenary session to ban the adoption of children from the Russian Federation by citizens of countries where gender reassignment is permitted.
"This decision is aimed at protecting childhood and traditional values. The absolute majority of State Duma deputies supported the initiative. It is necessary to protect our children from the dangers they may face when adopted or under guardianship by citizens of foreign countries where gender reassignment is permitted," said State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.
According to him, the refusal to adopt or under guardianship of children from Russia will affect citizens of several dozen countries.
It should be noted that transgender transition is permitted in many European countries, Iran, and China.
Previously, Russian legislation prohibited citizens of countries where same-sex marriages are permitted from accepting Russian children into their families.
The State Duma also adopted laws banning the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations, pedophilia, and gender reassignment. A bill prohibiting the propaganda of childfree (refusal to have children) is currently being considered. It was developed by deputies of the State Assembly - Kurultai of Bashkiria.
