Bashkortostan and Gomel to expand cooperation

Tatyana Aksyutina

Bashkortostan plans to expand cooperation with the Gomel region of the Republic of Belarus. During his speech at the Gomel Economic Forum, the acting First Deputy Prime Minister of Bashkortostan - Minister of Economic Development and Investment Policy Rustam Muratov stated this.

“Last year, we approved a long-term cooperation program between Bashkortostan and Belarus, in which we consolidated activities to implement more than 50 joint projects between our enterprises in key areas of cooperation. With the Gomel region, as the largest in Belarus, we are implementing almost 20% of them. I want to note that the Gomel region and the Republic of Bashkortostan are recognized industrial centers, where industry accounts for more than a third of the economy,” Rustam Muratov said.

There are territories with a preferential regime in Bashkortostan and the Gomel region, aiming to develop the manufacturing industries. As Rustam Muratov noted, the Belarusian region is actively developing types of production that can find wide application in Bashkortostan.

Another area of cooperation could be bilateral cooperation in mechanical engineering and equipment assembly. As Rustam Muratov said, one measure to stimulate this area will be opening a multi-brand center to sell and service agricultural machinery in Bashkortostan.

Concluding his speech, Rustam Muratov noted the common historical memory. In particular, the feat of the 112th Bashkir Cavalry Division, which, during the Great Patriotic War, fought its way through the territory of the Gomel region, liberating its cities and districts. According to the speaker, the memory passed down from generation to generation is a solid foundation for developing comprehensive partnership relations between Bashkortostan and the Gomel region.

The Gomel Economic Forum will be held on September 18-20. It brought together more than 400 participants from 15 countries, including Russia, China, India, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Kazakhstan.

The forum's business program is devoted to key issues of development in industry, export, innovation, and investment, as well as the work of small and medium-sized businesses. These will be discussed during thematic discussion platforms and the plenary session.
