Vladimir Putin congratulated elected Russian regions’ heads

Vladimir Putin held a videoconference meeting with the heads of the Russian regions elected during the single voting day.

Direct elections of leaders took place in 21 regions; in three constituent entities, the heads were elected by legislative bodies.

The Head of State congratulated the event participants on their election to Russian regions’ heads.

“The level of support that you received, both during direct voting and in regional legislative assemblies, speaks of high trust, of the fact that people, residents of the regions, see the results of your work and pin their hopes on you for further changes for the better. I want to emphasize that both the current heads and those who recently started work, were acting in these positions, won such a confident victory,” Vladimir Putin noted.

The President emphasized that the elections were held in an open, competitive environment, with a high turnout, the highest in the history of the single voting day.

“Our citizens know and understand how important it is to participate in the country's life and forming government bodies at various levels. And the modern organization of elections, the use of digital technologies make the voting process as convenient as possible,” said Vladimir Putin.

The President noted that society's demands on the authorities, including regional ones, are rightly growing.

“You are expected to work with full dedication in the interests of the country and its citizens, to be ready for an open, honest, ongoing dialogue with people, to fulfill all your obligations unconditionally, and to take specific actions aimed at the socio-economic development of the regions, to improve the standard and quality of life,” said Vladimir Putin.
