The Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District, Igor Komarov, and the head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, held a meeting on the socio-political development of the region, during which they discussed the readiness of election commissions and law enforcement agencies for the Single Voting Day. For the first time, the elections of the head of the republic will be held over three days - September 6, 7, and 8. In total, 218 campaigns will be held simultaneously in the region, 216 of which are for the elections of deputies of city, district, and village councils.
Igor Komarov recalled that the voting process should be based on transparent and understandable procedures for voters, strict compliance with the norms of legislation, and the principle of free expression of the will of citizens. The republic has almost three million voters, and more than three thousand polling stations will operate. "At this stage, it is necessary to inform people as widely as possible about the ongoing election campaign so that they can vote in a convenient format. The upcoming elections are an important event. They will determine the republic's development in the coming years," the plenipotentiary noted.
The plenipotentiary representative generally assessed the socio-political situation as stable - residents of Bashkortostan trust and widely support the Head of State Vladimir Putin, and see positive changes. An effective migration policy is vital to maintain peace in the future: "We need to ensure competent social and cultural adaptation of foreign citizens to the conditions of life, study and work in the region, develop municipal programs, including with the help of non-profit organizations." The plenipotentiary paid particular attention to the development of dialogue with residents and recalled the position of the Head of State, Vladimir Putin: "Digitalization in itself will not replace any personal contacts and meetings with people. Regular communication is the most important factor in increasing mutual understanding and trust between citizens and local authorities." "In general, in the region and especially at the local level, work must be done so that people desire to become involved in the processes and decisions that the authorities make. Effective competent processes should be built, among other things, on the initiatives of municipal residents. Therefore, it is necessary to pay more attention to public organizations, to people's opinions, to be in dialogue with them,” the plenipotentiary representative added.
