President of Russia congratulated railway workers on holiday

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated workers and veterans of railway transport on their professional holiday.

"Each of you contributes to ensuring that the railway industry - certainly of strategic importance for our vast country - operates reliably, smoothly, and without interruption. It meets the modern demands of both the economy and our citizens, develops, and worthily continues the best traditions, including our engineering school, which, let me remind you, were laid down in the first half of the 19th century, when the Tsarskoye Selo Railway opened," the head of state said.

According to him, the history of Russian railways knows many examples of labor and military valor, a real feat, and selfless work for the country's good.

"Russia is developing and moving forward, and a significant role here belongs to railway transport workers, engineers, track workers, transport builders, and specialists of freight and passenger companies. The opening of new global markets, the growth of domestic tourism, the stable operation of enterprises, including the military-industrial complex — all this, among other things, is your merit. We need an accelerated expansion of Russia's railway infrastructure at a new technological level, using the most advanced developments. Here, we must proceed not only from the needs of today but also create a reserve for the future for decades to come. This is how our great ancestors thought and worked," the country's president noted.

Now on the agenda is the construction of high-speed highways in conjunction with the Central Transport Hub, the creation of international logistics corridors, the development of the Azov-Black Sea transport route, the organization of the so-called seamless railway connection from the Baltic and the Barents Sea to the coast of the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean.

"The tasks are truly large-scale. Thanks to your knowledge and experience, we will solve them and focus on results in the country's best interests. I wish you and your loved ones success, health, well-being," Vladimir Putin emphasized.
