Bashkiria and Uzbekistan intend to develop cooperation in agriculture and light industry. This was announced at a meeting held during the Uzbek delegation's visit to Bashkiria.
“We intend to create appropriate production sites here. We want to start with agriculture. I think our entrepreneurs can launch their businesses in Bashkiria. Uzbekistan, including the Fergana region, is a leader in producing textile products. We already have 12 clusters specializing in textile products. Some companies primarily process raw materials and produce, for example, yarn but do not produce linens. Accordingly, we could create sewing workshops through joint efforts,” emphasized Akmal Pulatov, adviser to the khokim of the Fergana region on the development of the local industry.
Akmal Pulatov also expressed interest in localizing the production of Bashkir companies in Uzbekistan. Cooperation between Bashkiria and Uzbekistan continues to develop dynamically. At the same time, Pulatov noted that cooperation in the agro-industrial complex is only one of the areas of mutually beneficial partnership.
At the end of 2023, Uzbekistan ranked fifth in Bashkiria's foreign trade turnover, with a share of 3.8%. Trade turnover between the two republics has increased 2.5 times over the past five years.
“Thanks to the reciprocal visits, our relations in all areas are expanding this year. Several agreements on cooperation in various sectors of the economy have already been concluded. The main areas of our interaction in the industrial sector are traditionally the petrochemical industry, supplies of mineral products, wood and pulp and paper products, and textiles and textile products,” said Deputy Prime Minister of the Government—Minister of Industry, Energy and Innovation of Bashkiria Alexander Sheldyaev.
According to the press service of the government of the Republic of Belarus, the meeting participants discussed cooperation in IT, clothing production, and livestock farming. Margarita Bolycheva, the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Congress Activities of Bashkiria, also noted the strengthening of foreign economic relations between the two republics. In addition, she announced the possibility of opening a representative office in the Fergana region in Bashkiria.
