Russian government supported bill on illegal foreigners' expulsion regime
The Russian government supported a bill aimed at introducing an expulsion regime for foreign citizens who have no legal grounds to be in the Russian Federation.
The document notes, "The Government of the Russian Federation supports the bill.” Earlier, the relevant State Duma committee on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration, and relations with compatriots recommended that deputies adopt the initiative in the first reading; the document can be considered at a plenary meeting of the House of Parliament on June 18.
A group of deputies from all five factions introduced the bill to the chamber in April. The new norms also provide for the introduction of an expulsion regime for foreign citizens who have no legal grounds to be in the Russian Federation. It is proposed that corresponding changes be made to the law “On the legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation.”
