Bashkiria stand began operating at SPIEF 2024 in St. Petersburg

On June 5, the Bashkortostan stand at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) began its work in St. Petersburg. The business and economic event has been held since 1997. It annually brings together heads of state and political leaders, regional leaders, heads of government, deputy prime ministers, ministers, and experts from the largest Russian and foreign companies.

This year, Bashkortostan surprised the forum participants with a stand in the form of a giant bee.

“Every year, the region’s exposition arouses admiration among everyone who comes to our stand. Our main task is not simply to stage it but to show how rich our region is and its culture, history, and achievements in the economic and industrial spheres. This year, when choosing the form factor of our stand, we took as a basis one of the main symbols of the region - Bashkir honey and the bee, which are famous worldwide. At the stand, as part of the work of our official delegation under the leadership of the Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, we will hold several meetings and negotiations and also sign several dozen agreements that will bring additional development impetuses to our republic and attract new investors to the region,” commented the First Deputy Prime Minister economic development and investment policy of the Republic of Belarus Rustam Muratov.

According to the head of the Bashkir Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, SPIEF provides good opportunities for establishing cooperation with friendly countries. This year’s Forum program focuses on collaboration with the BRICS, SCO, and EAEU countries.

“Based on the results of the first quarter of this year, Bashkortostan maintains foreign trade relations with 85 countries, which is 3.6% more than in the same period last year. Our partners from the BRICS organization are among the top 10 counterparties in the region. At the same time, in January–March of this year, we noted an increase in trade turnover with the CIS countries by 6.2%, with African countries by 15 times, and with the countries of South America by 52 times. At SPIEF, we plan to meet again with the Governor of Liaoning Province of the People's Republic of China, Li Lechen, and continue discussing promising areas of cooperation and implementing joint projects,” noted Margarita Bolycheva.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Center from June 5 to 8, 2024. In 2023, more than 17,000 participants from 130 countries participated in SPIEF-2023 in real and virtual formats. More than 900 agreements were signed at the Forum, totaling 3.86 trillion rubles.
