The Kremlin press service reports that Igor Komarov was reappointed as the plenipotentiary representative of the head of state in the Volga Federal District by decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated May 14, 2024.
Igor Komarov was born in Engels, Saratov region, on May 25, 1964. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University in 1986.
From 1992 to 2002, Komarov held senior banking positions: first vice president of OJSC Joint Stock Bank Inkombank (1992–1998), first vice president of the National Reserve Bank (1998–2000), and deputy chairman of the board of Sberbank of Russia ( 2000–2002).
He was also deputy director of Norilsk Nickel, advisor to the general director of Russian Technologies, and president of AvtoVAZ. From 2015 to 2018, Komarov headed Roscosmos and became Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education.
In September 2018, Igor Komarov was appointed plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District.
