Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu was appointed Secretary of the Security Council by Vladimir Putin's decree.
The current Secretary of the Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, has been relieved of his position as secretary due to a transfer to another job.
“He continues to work. We will inform you where in the coming days,” Peskov said.
Earlier, it became known that in the list of candidates for appointments as part of the change in government composition, submitted by Putin to the Federation Council for consideration, it was proposed that First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov be appointed Minister of Defense. In the previous composition, he oversaw the socio-economic block.
