Russia wants to expand measures to support young professionals

The State Duma adopted a bill on supporting young specialists in the first reading. According to the document, a young specialist will be considered a person employed for the first time in his specialty, regardless of previous work experience. In addition, another category will be introduced - young workers.

According to Artem Metelev, the chairman of the youth policy committee, about 40 million young people live in the country today. Every year, 750 thousand children graduate from universities.

“For a person aged 20–22, when he is just graduating from a university, it is important to find a good job where he can realize himself, and if such a company or region still has measures to support a young specialist in housing and additional training, then this competitive advantages that attract talent,” he said.

At the same time, the current legislation contains contradictions, so children who work part-time outside their specialty while studying cannot count on benefits.

“On the one hand, the State Duma passes laws that instill a love of work in young people, return labor education to schools, support teenagers who enter the labor market, and on the other hand, young people who have gained work experience are deprived of state support. Today, we are eliminating this injustice,” explained the relevant committee chairman.
