The Russian government has expanded the free retraining program for citizens.
As Head of the Cabinet of Ministers Mikhail Mishustin noted at an operational meeting with deputy prime ministers, this year, thanks to the Employment Promotion project, it will be possible to undergo a free retraining program and additional vocational education in the most popular areas. In 2023, more than 150 thousand people were trained in this way. In 2024, the federal budget has allocated more than 6 billion rubles for these purposes.
Thus, the president's instructions added new categories of citizens to the current program. Citizens who contacted the employment service to look for work will now be able to participate in the program; disabled people, as well as parents or guardians who are on parental leave to care for a child under three years of age, are specified in the telegram channel of the Russian government.
At the same time, the right to free retraining remains for citizens aged 50 years and older, unemployed mothers of preschool children, specific categories of youth under 35 years of age, veterans of the Northern Military District, unemployed, or citizens at risk of dismissal.
Applications for participation in educational programs can be submitted on the “Work in Russia” portal. For each region, a list of specialties for which there is a local need has been compiled.
“We hope that the decision will help with staffing in the regions, including through a more attentive attitude to the needs of our enterprises and employers. And for those who have undergone retraining, finding a job they like will be easier,” said Mikhail Mishustin.
The “Employment Promotion” project is implemented within the “Demography” national project framework.
