

On January 17, at the House of the Republic, the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov held the “Hour of Native Languages”. Representatives of science, public organizations, and directors of multilingual multidisciplinary schools attended the meeting. The press service of the Head of the Republic reported this.
Minister of Education and Science of the Republic Ildar Mavletberdin reported that the republic's education system has organized the study of 13 native languages. Thus, in kindergartens, education is conducted in Bashkir, Tatar, Chuvash, and Udmurt languages, and Mordovian and Mari languages are also studied as native languages. Russian, Bashkir, Tatar, Chuvash, Mari, Udmurt, Mordovian, Ukrainian, German, and Belarusian languages are studied in schools. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 29.5 percent of schoolchildren – 153,800 people – learn their native languages. This is 8.5 thousand more children than in the last school year.
In addition, the republic schools organized the study of the Bashkir language as the state language. He was chosen by 78.5 percent of schoolchildren - 408,781 people. This is 42 thousand more children than a year earlier.
Eight multilingual multidisciplinary schools are successfully operating in Bashkortostan - two in Ufa, one each in Sterlitamak, Neftekamsk, Sibay, Uchalinsky, Khaibullinsky and Mishkinsky districts. Plans for 2024 include opening two more such schools in the Baymaksky and Tatyshlinsky districts. And in the future, until 2030, eight additional multilingual educational institutions will be built in the republic.
One of the successful projects was the Dictation in the Bashkir language, which has reached the international level since 2019. If, at the initial stage, 70 thousand residents wrote the Dictation, then in 2023, the number of participants exceeded 340 thousand people worldwide.
Annual competitions are held for grant support for projects to popularize the Bashkir language. Last year, 25 grants totaling 900 thousand rubles were allocated to implementing initiatives in mass media and online projects.
In addition, the first online Olympiad in the Bashkir language was organized in 2023. Representatives of 23 countries and 67 regions of Russia took part in it - a total of 27.6 thousand people.
The head of Bashkortostan drew attention to the need to design address signs in the Bashkir language to improve Ufa streets for the 450th anniversary of the regional capital.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the region instructed the relevant ministries and departments to prepare proposals for the launch of new initiatives in the republic to preserve and develop the languages of the peoples of Bashkortostan.
