18.5% increase in minimum wage will lead to wages growth for 4.8 million Russians - Volodin

Tatyana Aksyutina

4.8 million people will have wage growth due to an increase in the minimum wage by 18.5%. This was stated by the Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin. He recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an increase in the minimum wage by 18.5% from January 1, 2024.

“This important decision will protect people and increase real incomes. As a result of implementing this instruction, wages will increase for 4.8 million people,” the Chairman of the State Duma said. “In addition, the amount of benefits for temporary disability, maternity leave, sick leave, and other mandatory social insurance payments depends on the minimum wage. This is a budget-forming bill that the State Duma considered as a priority ahead of the first reading of the draft law on the federal budget for 2024–2026,” he added.
