Ratmir Mavliev was elected chairman of the Association of Volga Region Cities, thus becoming its youngest leader. The head of the administration of Ufa replaced the mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, in this post. This decision was made at the reporting and election general meeting of the Association members, which was held in Perm today.
Ratmir Mavliev emphasized that becoming chairman of the Association of Volga Region Cities is both pride and colossal responsibility. He expressed gratitude for the credit of trust given to him and the whole of Ufa.
Ratmir Mavliev noted the value and relevance of the activities of such associations. Ufa has set friendship with municipalities as one of its goals. The capital of Bashkortostan communicates closely with Perm, Kazan, Izhevsk, and all its neighbors. Experience and best practices are exchanged, and optimal urban management models are jointly developed.
The Association unites municipalities of the Volga region voluntarily and coordinates activities for more effective implementation of their rights and interests. Ufa became part of it in 2015. Today, the Associations are 26 cities.
The Chairman of the Association is elected for three years with the right to be re-elected an unlimited number of times. During this time, he conducts meetings, signs decisions of the board, and coordinates the work of all association divisions. Ratmir Mavliev called his goals in this position to unlock the Association's potential and spread best practices to other cities.
