Prime Minister of Bashkiria Andrey Nazarov met with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov. They considered issues of further development of bilateral cooperation.
Andrey Nazarov told Alikhan Smailov about the participation of the official delegation of Bashkiria in the IV International specialized exhibition on mechanical engineering and metalworking on May 10-12 in Astana, which discussed with representatives of the leadership of Kazakhstan the plan of measures to develop cooperation. One of its parts was the activity of the joint working group of Kazakhstan and Bashkortostan. The first meeting took place at the beginning of last year. Andrey Nazarov noted the need to update the composition of the working group, determine its new representatives and chairman from the neighboring republic, and appoint an agency responsible for interaction with Bashkortostan.
In a conversation with a Kazakh colleague, Andrey Nazarov also said that Bashkiria plans to take part in the International Industrial Exhibition “INNOPROM. Kazakhstan” and sign several significant agreements on its margins.
In addition, Andrey Nazarov emphasized that Bashkir enterprises are interested in localizing production in Kazakhstan. He noted that the Ural Spring Plant plans to locate its production facilities in the Kostanay region. Now the construction of the facility has already begun. However, the company needs a little assistance in obtaining quotas for gasification.
The Head of the Government of Bashkiria outlined another promising investment project related to constructing a plant for producing oriented strand boards in the republic. He assured the Kazakh side that the region has all the opportunities, including an extensive resource base. According to Andrey Nazarov, several Kazakh companies planned to start implementing the project, but due to objective reasons, they were forced to suspend this activity. This is an essential project for Bashkiria, and the republic is ready to provide all possible assistance to Kazakh investors, Andrey Nazarov noted.
Further, Andrey Nazarov raised the issue of locating the office of the Bashkiria representative office in the Russian trade mission in Kazakhstan in Astana.
The Head of the Cabinet of Ministers paid particular attention to the implementation of the investment project of the Bashkir Soda Company in Kazakhstan. Andrey Nazarov said that producing pigment titanium dioxide and zirconium oxychloride was planned to use ore sands of Kazakhstani deposits as raw materials.
The Prime Minister of the Bashkortostan Government also suggested increasing the number of flights from Ufa to Almaty and Astana, considering the high demand, up to three times a week and organizing direct flights on the Ufa-Aktau route.
Andrey Nazarov touched upon the issue of cultural exchange. Last March, Bashkiria hosted the exhibition “The Great Steppe: Space. Time. Culture”, organized jointly with the National Museum of Kazakhstan within the framework of the “Procession of the Golden Man through the Museums of the World” project.
